Democratic Local Governance Program - DLGP

The Democratic Local Governance Program (DLGP) is a USAID funded project designed to increase the efficiency and transparency of selected rural and urban local government in the northwest and southwest areas of Bangladesh. In addition, the program works to advance the legal and functional independence of two local government associations, founded to represent the interest of rural and urban local governments respectively. The program is implemented by RTI International, a North Carolina, US-based not-for-profit international organization. Democracywatch as an implementing partner in Bangladesh of RTI International is working execute DLGP.

Objectives of DLGP are,

	Expanded and better defined roles and authorities of local governments,
	Improved capacity of local governments to deliver services,
	Better capacity of local governments to identify appropriate funding alternatives, and
	Increased transparency and citizen participation in local decision-making.
